Placement Process:

I put this site together for a variety of reasons. First, I wanted to let the whole world know about our wonderful dogs and my incredible family. Second, I hope to connect with interested individuals and families in an effort to assure that future puppies are going to the best possible homes available.

As I mentioned earlier, we are not a large kennel and do not aspire to become one. We do however think we have wonderful examples of the breed and feel that with carefully planned breeding we will be able to offer other families wonderful examples of the breed. We are striving to produce puppies that have exceptional temperaments, are structurally sound, and have every chance of being stellar examples of the breed as a whole in order that they can become awesome family members and also competent in the show ring.

We only breed when we intend to keep a puppy for our family or if we plan to co-own a dog with another individual or family that we trust. Our upcoming breeding between St. Patrick’s Lady Luma and St. Patrick’s Reggie is one in which we are extremely excited! We intend to keep a girl and have a boy placed locally with a family that we have identified well prior to this breeding. We hope to find other families that share our devotion and thoughts about the role a dog plays a true family member.

We are very concerned that all of our puppies are placed in loving and stable homes. Our greatest fear is that we might make a poor match and have a puppy need to go through a difficult transition if a family is not able to keep him/her. With this in mind I want to share some specific information about how we handled the whole placement process.

First of all we insist upon the completion of a questionnaire so that we can learn more about you, your family, your home, and your vision of life with a Mastiff. Second, we will of course need to have several conversations via phone calls or emails. Third, we would want to arrange for a chance for us to meet in person, either here or preferably both here and at your home. We welcome visitors here and would like to hope that you could come meet with us to see the dogs, our home, and find out if we are comfortable with each other. If that goes well I would then like to see if we might be able to arrange for a reverse visit to your home with me bringing either Sam or Luma along. As I stated earlier, we want to assure that the best possible matches are made. To do that we want to know that you have the space for a Mastiff, an adequately fenced yard, and can truly see what it is like to have such a huge dog in your home.

We really hope to find homes for the puppies right here in our general area, but are open to prospective families from anywhere. The reason we hope for mostly local families is that we hope to be able to see the puppies as they grow, be able to have you come back for puppy play dates, and allow families to make additional connections to others who share the love of the breed. We also prefer families from the general area in large part because we will not ship puppies under any circumstances. If you have your heart set on one of our puppies and live too far to drive you will need to be prepared to arrange for a flight here to get your puppy and travel home with him/her in the plane's cabin! It is legally possible and is the only way we will allow a puppy to be flown. No puppy from Bur Oaks will be sent in a cargo hold! My wife and I are not flexible about this stance. It will be hard enough letting puppies leave our home, but knowing that they will also go through their first separation from us by being subjected to the stress of flying in a cargo hold is just not worth it for us.

If you think you might be interested in a puppy from this breeding please take the time to review our site and complete our required questionnaire. We welcome your inquires and questions and are more than open to having you come visit us and our dogs, just contact me and we can talk more.
